The Catalyst Initiative aims to reduce knife and gun crime in Southeast London and surrounding areas by encouraging young people and their parents to hand over and surrender any weapons using our Amnesty bin. All weapons are disposed of safely and confidentially.

Any young person who hands over a weapon to The Catalyst Initiative will be offered a gift card in return.

No names will be required and the exchange will be 100% confidential.

The Catalyst Initiative wants to prevent young people from being involved in knife and gun crimes and can support them to make positive life choices by offering advice, guidance and support.

Ché Montgomery
"The Catalyst"

Ché has been working with young people for over 20 years and is a positive role model within the community. As a father to his own children and as a mentor to the hundreds of children and young people he has worked with, he feels obliged to tackle knife and gun crime and try his best to remove as many weapons as he possibly can, while supporting the young people affected to disengage from gang, criminal and violent lifestyles.

He understands he is not the solution to knife and gun crime, however he feels strongly that every knife or gun that is handed to him is helping prevent future crimes. A knife handed in today could be a weapon used on one of our own children, families and loved ones. Ché refuses to sit back and only act once it’s too late therefore his service will be available every day of the week, trying to make that small difference.

As a community, Ché believes we have a duty to guide, mentor, support and teach our children and young people to make positive life choices. We, as a collective, can work together to offer or support interventions to those in need. “Alone we are strong but together we are stronger.” Without your donations, The Catalyst Initiative would not be able to provide a service. 100% of donations are used for gift vouchers and other incentives for the young people who engage with the service. Please show your support by donating what you can. Every little helps.
